What can be notarized online?

If it can be notarized across a desk, it can usually be notarized on video — the identity check and signature witnessing work the same way.

📝

Affidavits & sworn statements

Sworn statements, declarations, and affidavits for courts, insurers, employers, and agencies.

⚖️

Powers of attorney

Financial, durable, healthcare, and limited powers of attorney. See our dedicated guide: notarize a power of attorney online.

🤝

Contracts & agreements

Private contracts, settlement agreements, and any agreement whose signatures need a notary's seal to carry weight.

✅

Consent & permission forms

Travel consent for minors, medical consent, school and activity permissions, and authorization letters.

🏢

Business documents

Contracts, vendor agreements, corporate resolutions, and NDAs. Teams notarizing every week should see online notarization for business documents.

🏠

Real-estate documents

Closing disclosures, deeds, and loan documents where state law and the recipient allow RON. See online notary for real estate closings — some instruments have state restrictions, covered below.

What can't be notarized online — the honest list

A few categories carry state rules or recipient requirements. Knowing them up front saves a wasted session.

📜

Wills & some estate documents

Wills and certain estate instruments have state-specific execution rules — witnesses, self-proving affidavits, or in-person requirements — that can limit online notarization. Check your state's rule, or ask us before booking.

🏠

Some real-estate instruments

Certain deeds and real-estate instruments have state-specific restrictions, and some county recorders or lenders set their own acceptance requirements. The notarization itself is valid; whether a specific recipient accepts it is that recipient's call.

✍️

Documents you already signed

A notarization certifies a signature made — or acknowledged — in the notary's presence. Bring an unsigned copy and sign live on video. Already signed your only copy? Call (424) 450-6387 and we'll walk you through the options.

🪪

Anything without valid ID

Every signer needs an unexpired government-issued photo ID that passes credential analysis, plus knowledge-based identity questions. No valid ID, no session — that's a legal requirement, not our policy.

This page is general information about notarization, not legal advice. We verify the signer, witness the signature, and seal the document — whether a specific court, agency, bank, or recorder accepts it depends on that recipient's requirements.

How it works

Four steps, about 15 minutes for a standard session.

1
📤

Book & upload

Choose a preferred time window and upload your unsigned document as a PDF. The team confirms your exact session time, and your secure video link arrives by email.

2
🪪

Verify your identity

Scan your government-issued photo ID for credential analysis and answer a few knowledge-based identity questions — about 2 minutes, meeting every state's RON security standard.

3
🎥

Sign live with your notary

Meet your notary by secure video (Google Meet). The notary confirms your identity live, watches you sign electronically — never sign before the session — and applies the official digital seal and signature.

4
📩

Get your sealed PDF

Right after the session, your tamper-evident notarized PDF lands in your inbox by email, with the notary's digital seal and certificate any recipient can verify.

In California?

California residents can notarize online today with a notary commissioned in a RON-enabled state — you don't have to wait for California's own SB 696 platform.

California-commissioned notaries can't perform RON until the Secretary of State certifies a platform under SB 696 (by January 1, 2030) — but a notarization performed by a commissioned notary in another enabled state is recognized in California and nationwide. Full explanation: online notary in California.
